Who We Are
This privacy policy explains how PrizePals collects, uses and protects your personal data when you create an account, enter our competitions, use site credit or contact us. PrizePals is run by Prize Pals Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 17419957, registered office 6 Whitesands Grove, Stoke on Trent, ST3 7HT. Prize Pals Ltd is responsible for your personal data.
What We Collect
- Name, date of birth, email address and phone number when you register an account.
- Billing address when you buy tickets. Card payments are handled by our payment provider, DNA Payments, and we never see or store your full card details.
- Your postal address and the details on your postcard if you send us a free postal entry.
- Your answer to each skill question, your orders and your ticket numbers, so we can run fair draws.
- Your site credit balance and its history: credit won, credit used on orders, credit returned and any adjustments made by our staff, with the reason.
- Any spending limits you set and any break you take, with the dates they were set or changed.
- When you claim a prize: your full name, the payee name for a cash prize, a delivery address for a goods prize, and the proof of identity and age we ask for before paying or sending a prize. We never ask for bank details by email or through a website form.
- Basic technical data, such as IP address and browser type, for security and fraud prevention.
Why We Collect It, and Our Legal Basis
- To run your account, process ticket purchases, run draws, manage site credit and deliver prizes. This is necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To confirm you are 18 or over and live in the United Kingdom, and to check winners’ identity and age before a prize is released. Our competitions are not open to under 18s.
- To apply the spending limits and breaks you choose. This is necessary to provide the service you asked for, and supports our commitment to responsible play.
- To prevent fraud, duplicate accounts and abuse of free entries or giveaways. This is our legitimate interest.
- To keep records our accountants and the law require. This is a legal obligation.
- To send order confirmations, win notifications and other service messages. If you agree, we may also send emails or texts about new competitions, offers and free giveaways. Agreeing is always optional and is never a condition of entering. You can stop them at any time from Email Preferences in your account, or with the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
What We Publish
To show that every competition is run fairly, we publish some details about entries and winners:
- Each competition’s entry list shows ticket numbers with each entrant’s first name and the first letter of their surname.
- Our Winners page and our live draws show the winner’s first name and surname initial, the competition, the winning ticket number and the prize. Live draws may be recorded and kept online.
If you would rather not be named as a winner, email us at prizepalcompetitions@gmail.com and we will show you as “PrizePals winner” instead.
How Long We Keep It
We keep order, entry, site credit and prize records for as long as needed for fraud prevention, winner verification and our legal and accounting obligations, then delete or anonymise them. Proof of identity provided for a prize claim is kept only as long as needed to complete the checks and deal with any dispute.
Your Rights
You can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, object to how we use it, or ask us to delete your account through our account deletion page. Deletion requests are actioned once any live tickets you hold have been drawn, so we can still verify winners fairly. Any site credit left in an account is lost when the account is closed, so please use it first.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
